3-3-1 Transform Your Week: E3 System TM. Evaluate, Envision and Execute

"...it might feel a little uncomfortable at first, but it’s the vital first step toward meaningful change."

September 9th, 2024

HEEEEY TRIBE,

It's hard for me to even write this, but… Summer is pretty much over.

As summer winds down, many of us are left with a mix of emotions, fond memories of sunny days and perhaps a tinge of guilt for not quite hitting our goals. September feels like a fresh start, almost like New Year’s Day but with the added benefit of having learned from summer’s adventures. It’s the perfect time to reset and refocus, but how do you turn that lingering summer guilt into actionable progress?

I know this feeling all too well. With a 7-month-old baby and two older kids whose energy levels could rival a coffee shop on a Monday morning, my summer schedule was anything but routine. Between the baby’s unpredictable schedule and the older kids’ endless activities, my plans often took a backseat. And let’s be honest, keeping up with them made me feel like I was having an extra training session everyday.

As September rolled around, I found myself overwhelmed by the gap between my summer reality and my Q4 year-end goals.

It has been a moment of reflection: do I let this gap define my progress, or can I use it as a springboard to realign with my objectives?

In this newsletter, we’ll explore how to take those summer experiences, along with any guilt you might be carrying, and transform them into effective strategies to regain control and thrive in the final stretch of the year, using my E3 System™ .

Here’s the E3 System ™ in the form of 3 tips:

3 Tips From Me

Tip 1: Evaluate – A Raw Check-In with Yourself to Face The Truth

You can’t fix what you don’t see, so before you dive back into the grind, take a moment to honestly evaluate where you are. Think of it like glancing in the mirror after a summer or year of indulgence. Yes, it might feel a little uncomfortable at first, but it’s the vital first step toward meaningful change and it’s important that you are brutally honest with yourself here.

Self-evaluation isn’t about shame or guilt. In fact, it’s the opposite. It’s an act of self-compassion because you’re giving yourself the chance to see things clearly without judgment. By evaluating your current state, you learn to separate feelings of guilt from productive action. It’s like hitting the “reset” button, allowing you to acknowledge where you are without the pressure of perfection.

1.1 Reflect on the Journey:
Pause and think about what brought you joy and what threw you off track this summer. Acknowledge where you are, then refocus your path forward.

1.2 Identify the Gaps:
Review your goals. If summer caused detours, treat them as chances to realign and improve, not failures.

1.3 Get Some Feedback:
Ask a trusted friend, mentor or coach for perspective to help you spot strengths and areas for growth.

Tip 2: Envision – Seeing Your Goals in High Definition

Once you’ve evaluated where you stand, it’s time to dream a little. Envisioning your success is like designing a plan for the season, no guesswork, just a clear strategy, a positive mindset to overcome obstacles and a vision of what victory looks like for you.

  • Define Your Vision: What does success look like for you right now? Is it smashing those year-end goals, or reclaiming control of your hectic schedule? Be specific. The clearer your vision, the stronger your drive will be to make it happen.

  • Visualize with Passion: Spend a few moments each day imagining the feeling of reaching your goals. It’s like daydreaming about a vacation, but instead of sandy beaches, you’re envisioning the satisfaction of achieving what you want.

  • Break It Down: Set smaller milestones that lead up to your big vision. Think of these as the mini-celebrations on your way to the grand prize. Achieving these will build your confidence and keep the momentum going.

Tip 3: Execute - On Aligning Your Actions with Your Life’s Pillars

With your vision set and your plan in place, it’s time to roll the sleeves and get to work by integrating your goals into the broader context of your daily life.

Execution is how you make the magic happen, it transforms the vision into reality.

Acting as fast as possible involves ensuring that your aspirations align with your work, family, and personal responsibilities.

Think of execution as conducting an orchestra. To assure your life’s concert has a harmonious performance, all of the instruments need to be fined tuned, and the artists who play them need to play their role to the best of their ability, knowing their timings and place to come into the show.

Sometimes the violins are more needed, other times the drums take a part of show and there are moments where they all play together, at the end they all play a crucial role in how the masterpiece is created.

Align your life's pillars and be the Maestro of your journey. Just as an orchestra needs a conductor to guide its performance, you are responsible for orchestrating the symphony of your life.

Manage your goals and responsibilities so they work in concert with each other. Sometimes family needs more focus, sometimes work does, and sometimes it’s about finding specific artists that will enhance each pillar/instrument in your life’s concert, it could be a Trainer, a Nutritionist, a Psychologist, a Life or Business Coach. By fine-tuning these elements, you create a masterpiece out of your life’s daily symphony.

1 Question for Reflection and Action:

(Take as much time needed to reflect on them and write the answers on a piece of paper)

Question: Considering your current situation and goals, what’s one major obstacle you’re facing, and what can you do today to begin overcoming it?

Reflection: Identify the biggest obstacle in your path and brainstorm at least two practical steps you can take right now to address it. Choose one step to implement today and track your progress over the next week.
